Students of mine receive the benefit of not only a dedicated and focused teacher during each lesson, but more well-rounded training due to my unique set of skills and strengths.

  • Each student receives individualized and personalized instruction, depending on goals, interests, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Students who want to excel in both piano and voice can study both instruments cohesively with just one teacher.
  • As a voice teacher, my piano skills allow me to accompany my students fluently, which helps them become more confident for auditions and performances.  Additionally, my extensive theory training and love of sight-reading and music theory is a benefit for voice students, who often need more sight-reading and theory practice.
  • As a piano teacher, my voice skills influence how I teach students to express themselves with phrasing, breathing, and articulation.
  • My experience as a piano accompanist allows me to be a source of information regarding accompanying singers.  I have run an intern accompanist program within my own private studio and love training young accompanists in this very important role.
  • I am dedicated to keeping up to date on the latest pedagogical research and repertoire across several styles.  I regularly attend professional development conferences for my own education.
  • My medical internship informed my knowledge first-hand about vocal health, disorders, and rehabilitation.
  • My experience as a music director for several musical theatre productions gives me the director’s perspective from “the other side of the desk” in auditions, so I can help students with audition techniques and choices.
  • Above all, in me you will have a mentor for life – in music and other pursuits.  I stay in touch with my alumni students and our relationships continue long after they have moved on from lessons.
